After seeing the evening news some time ago I thought to myself I was very lucky that my children were born here, in this safe country. And once again, inspiration came quickly, resulting in the latest painting: Intifada. Peace or victory?
A few people who have seen it have advised me not to publish it – it might bring bad karma they said .. Yeah right..
I decided to write down a few of the questions people asked me and the answers I had for them. Just to make things clear. Once and for all.
Is it meant to offend people?
No, it’s meant to make people realize that the very high-level government games have a very low-level impact. On either side.
Is it anti-Jew?
No, it isn’t pro Palestine either. Is the child making a peace sign or is it a victory sign? Do they shout for peace but aim for victory? I only wonder..
Does it want to make some sort of religious statement?
I can best describe this with the words of a great MC who sent a chill down my spine with this verse:
“..Who am I or they to say to whom you pray ain’t right
That’s who got you doin right and got you this far
Whether you say “in Jesus name” or “Hum do Allah”
Long as you know it’s a being that’s supreme to you
You let that show towards others in the things you do.. “ – Common, G.O.D.(Gaining One’s Definition)
